Course Description
The 2024 Canadian Electrical Code comes into effect in most provinces in early 2025. Are you familiar with the changes and what’s new?
This course introduces the most recent Canadian Electrical Code standards as they apply to solar photovoltaic (PV) installations. It addresses the most crucial inspection points of the most common solar PV system types. It focuses primarily on grid-interactive residential and commercial scale projects less than 1 MW.
This course is intended for electricians, technicians, engineers, solar installers, and those with a good understanding of electrical theory and electrical terminology, who want to ensure that their solar installations comply with the current Canadian Electrical Code standards.
Prerequisites/required knowledge
It is assumed that participants are familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code and have a good understanding of electrical theory, electrical terminology, and solar electric systems. Participants should have prior knowledge of:
- Electrical terminology and electrical equipment
- Ohm’s Law, Kirchoff’s Laws, and the relationship between energy and power
- Solar PV module electrical I-V curve characteristics
- Grid-interactive solar PV system sizing and equipment
Please bring a copy of the most recent Canadian Electrical Code to each class.
Certification
Upon successful completion of this course and with a minimum score of 70% on the course quiz, you will receive a course completion certificate from Solar Alberta.
